Volunteer Opportunities

The Transylvania Heritage Museum is run and maintained by volunteers with only one part-time employee.  If you have an interest in history, like to meet new people, or would like to a worthwhile project to tackle, we invite you to contact us about Volunteer opportunities.  The Museum is involved in many different activities and programs, and there is a space available for you, no matter your interest!

Some opportunities include:
Docents:  These people are the face of our museum.  They greet guests, operate the gift shop, and provide friendly and knowledgeable service to our visitors. 10:00-1:30; or 1:30-5:00 shifts are available.

Actors/Actresses:  Some of our events require costumed characters.  We will provide the background if you would like to 'portray' a historical character during one of our programs!  Also could become a Tour Guide on a Downtown Walking Tour.

Cataloging:  People with basic computer skills are needed to help catalog our collections.  With artifacts coming in daily, this task is ongoing.  Those with more extensive skills can work with special collections in digitizing our collections.

Carpentry:  There are several jobs that require a handyman.  We provide the materials, you provide the skill!

Exhibit Set-up/Take Down:  If you have a truck and a strong back, or just a 'knack' for arranging, we could probably use you during our exhibit change-over.  This is usually just a couple of days of intense chaos, but it is a lot of fun!

If you want to volunteer but see nothing here that appeals to you, please contact us and we will find something you would like to do!  Training for specific areas will be provided.

If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please print the Volunteer Form, fill out, and mail to:
