The Transylvania Heritage Museum, Inc. is a distinguished 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 2007 and nestled at 189 West Main Street in the heart of Brevard, NC.

Our doors welcome visitors Thursday through Saturday, from noon until 4 pm, inviting them to delve into the rich tapestry of our region’s heritage. Our season spans from March until mid-January, offering ample opportunity for exploration and discovery.

The mission of the Transylvania Heritage Museum is to protect and preserve the heritage of Transylvania County. Our interactive exhibits, multi-age educational programs, cultural events and special collections foster an understanding of local culture to ensure it is appreciated by people of today and preserved for those of tomorrow.

Battlefields to Backwoods-Soldiers Shaping Appalachia on display now. Thursday – Saturday noon to 4:oo pm and by appointment.

A Continuation of our Mountain Legacies series, this immersive display explores how Revolutionary War Veterans transitioned into pioneers in the former Cherokee lands that would become Transylvania County. .

Silvermont

Silvermont Mansion

The Transylvania Heritage Museum also oversees the captivating Second Floor House Museum at the Silvermont Mansion, located at 364 E Main Street in the heart of Brevard.

Our doors swing open from mid-March through September, welcoming visitors every Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00 am and on Fridays from 1:00 to 3:30 pm.

While admission is free of charge, we graciously accept donations to support our mission.

For those unable to visit during our regular hours, customized tours can be arranged by reaching out to the Transylvania Heritage Museum.

Guided Walking Tours

The Museum offers guided walking tours upon request for groups of 4 or more. The tours cost $10 per person, and children under 10 can join for free when accompanied by a paying adult. The tours last approximately one hour and cover a range of topics.

Special Behind the Scenes Walking Tours are approximately 1 1/2 hours long and allow participants to visit areas of historic buildings not generally open to the public. These tours are also scheduled upon request. Tours are limited to 8 people and cost $20 per person.
