Heritage Museum planning Yarn Painting and Dying Class

On Saturday visitors to the Transylvania Heritage Museum got a crash course in yarn painting and dying from Becky Garrison, a local spinner and fiber arts artisan.

She demonstrated the process of dying wool using, of all things, Koolaid.

She also demonstrated the technique of painting yarn. She will do Yarn Processing and Spinning Demo, along with Angora Rabbit Breeder Teresa Tyte, at the Transylvania Heritage Museum on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a Yarn Painting and Dying Class offered on Sept. 25, from 1 p.m. to 3 pm. The cost is $20 per person. Space is limited, so pick up a registration form at the museum and register early. Proceeds go to support the Transylvania Heritage Museum.

For more information, email Rebecca at curator@transylvaniaheritage.org or call the museum at (828) 884-2347 during regular business hours. The museum is open Thursday through Saturday, from noon until 4 p.m.
