Saturday, July 16, 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon:
Location: Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall

Shape Note Singing in the South: To tie in with the 150th anniversary of Transylvania County, Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church's music ministry will offer a lecture-demonstration program on the history and style of shape note singing. As part of the event, attendees will look at and sing some selections from The Sacred Harp and/or Southern Harmony. (One does not have to read shape notes to participate!)  Dr. Kevin Kehrberg, a member of the music faculty at Warren Wilson College, will be the guest presenter for this distinctive event. His research interests include American vernacular sacred music, bluegrass and old-time music, and jazz. There is no admission charge though donationswill be received for the B-DRPC Music Fund.
