Transylvania County 150th Rosman Community Event

     (Brevard, NC) – The Rosman Community Auxiliary in Partnership with the Town of Rosman invites the public to the 4th Annual Rosman Heritage and 150 Year Event the weekend of September 30.  The events will take place Friday, September 30 from 8 – 9:30 pm and Saturday, October 1 from 9:30 am – 5 pm and 8 – 9:30 pm on West Main Street in Rosman.  

     The 2nd South Carolina Re-enactment Group will start the festivities Friday night with an old-fashioned street dance at the corner of Church and Main.  The opening events will be followed on Saturday with a full day and evening of activities.

     The event will open and close with a replica of a confederate camp with live soldiers in uniform.  McBeth Artillery will have an authentic Civil War cannon on display.  At 12:00 pm armed forces personnel that were killed and the ones missing in action will be honored. Then at 1:00 pm those citizens in attendance that are 80 years old and older will be honored. 

    The day is full of other activities including Music on the Town Hall lawn, a horseshoe tournament, vendors and a Crafter’s Corner.  The organizing community has worked to bring a wide selection of interesting and fun activities for all to enjoy.  Attendees will be offered classic carriage rides, barrel train rides for kids and adults and animal balloons for all the kids.  A narrated history of Rosman will be presented at both 1:30 and 3 pm.

     There will be cloggers, square dancers, bluegrass, gospel and country music all performed by local talent, including the Carolina Country Band from 3:30 – 5 pm.  Admission is free and there will be food available for sale beginning at 11 am.  Choices include BBQ sandwich plates, BBQ sandwiches, hotdogs, desserts, and drinks.

The event will close Saturday evening with an Historical Twilight Tour consisting of five stations displaying historical documents, items, and a way of life consistent with the birth of Transylvania County.
