Transylvania County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers (EMGV)invite the public to attend a free workshop on Herb Gardening on Saturday, June 18 at the newly renovated Gardens of Silvermont  EMGV demonstration garden behind the Silvermont Manion. It will include classroom instruction as well as hands-on demonstrations in the garden. Workshop leader Gail Comer has been a Transylvania County Master Gardener since  2003 and an herb gardener for many years. She is a member of the National Herb Society. She will discuss culinary uses of herbs as well as tips for growing.

This is the second in a series of three gardening workshops entitled, "Kitchen Gardening Past and Present" put on by the EMGV as part of the Transylvania County Sesquicentennial Celebration.

"We're celebrating the Sesquicentennial by preserving the knowledge of how to grow and use foods from your garden," said Jeannie Falknor, EMGV President.

The kitchen gardening series is part of the EMGV mission to bring gardening education to the public and the first of many workshops that the Master Gardeners will hold at the Gardens of Silvermont.

The Transylvania County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers is a community service organization dedicated to putting knowledge to work through gardening education.
