Honoring Their Sacrifice - Civil War

May 20, 2011 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm
American Legion Building

The Transylvania Heritage Museum will hold a special event at the American Legion Building of Friday, May 20th, in recognition of the day that North Carolina seceded from the Union, thrusting Transylvania County into the Civil War.  Performances will include performances by Ms. Nora Brooks, who will portray Mrs. Anna Jackson, widow of General Stonewall Jackson, Mr. Wayne Erbsen, an accomplished musician and renowned authority on the songs and ballads of the Civil War era, and special guest Daryle Hogsed, Transylvania Native and expert on Civil War weaponry and uniforms.

On the 150th Anniversary of the beginning of the bloodiest conflict in North Carolina history, please join us in honoring the sacrifice of our ancestors, in both armies, at this special commemorative event.  For descendants of veterans, commemorative ribbons will be available in Confederate grey or Union blue.

Tickets for the evening are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.  $2 off coupons are available for students at BHS, RHS, BC, BRCC.  Tickets are available at the Transylvania Heritage Museum, Rockin Robin in Brevard, Carolina Mountain Credit Union in Rosman, and McNeely's Ace Hardware in Sapphire.
