Community Event - Historical Marker Dedication

Rosman Town Hall, 6 Main Street, Rosman, NC 28772

The Transylvania Heritage Museum has received approval for a historical marker to be erected on U.S. 178 at Main Street in Rosman in front of the Rosman Town Hall.   The dedication and marker unveiling will be at the Rosman Town Hall on Saturday, June 15.  The public is invited to attend. 

According to Michael Hill, Research Supervisor, the North Carolina Highway Historical Marker Advisory Committee approved the marker bearing the following inscription: “TANNERIES Lost Industry in Western N.C.  Bark used to process animal hides to make leather goods.  Joseph Silversteen operated one here from 1901-1958.”
